Harvest Open Air Service
All are welcome to join us for a celebration of harvest and creation at A Rocha’s Foxearth Meadows Nature Reserve, near Sudbury, Essex on Sunday 13th September at 3pm. The service will be a relaxed mix of readings and songs. Dr Andrew Crowson will be speaking; he is known to many A Rocha UK supporters for his energetic and engaging style.
We will meet at Nightingale Corner – you will be directed from the pedestrian gate leading from the car park. Please bring a chair to sit on. Booking on Eventbrite is encouraged to help us with numbers, but not essential. Children are welcome.
We’ll have time afterwards to meet and get to know one another over tea/coffee and cake. Please bring a reusable cup.
Bats Alive!!!
Enjoy a walk with bat expert Graham Hart and Sarah Leedham on Monday 5th October, 6-9pm. Use bat detectors to hear their calls and see them hunting on the wing.
Bat expert Graham Hart will help us discover how to hear hunting bats and we will use bat detectors to find them.

The reserve will be dark. Please bring a torch. We will be standing and walking slowly for extended periods. Please share transport where possible.
About Foxearth Meadows Nature reserve
Foxearth Meadows sits on the River Stour floodplain in a quiet corner of Essex on the border with Suffolk. The eleven-acre site has a variety of habitats including the river and riverbank, wetlands and woodland, an ancient field boundary, a series of ponds and marshy flower-rich grassland. Managed especially for dragonflies and damselflies, it is also home to a wealth of wildlife including otter, kingfisher, harvest mouse, common lizard, grass snake and common toad. It has been owned and managed by A Rocha UK since 2015.

The reserve is about a mile north of Foxearth village, between the River Stour and the lane north-west of Constable’s Farm and Constable’s Barn.
From Long Melford, travelling west towards Clare (A1092), turn first left after GCB Cocoa (formerly Philips Avent) signposted Pentlow Road, then take the next left signposted Liston. The reserve is about 200 metres on the left.
