A total of £1,130 was raised by John White from Christ Church, Clacton who took part in the Hospital Hero Hike on 4th October 2025.

This was organised by the Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals Charity and involved a cross country hike from Colchester Hospital to Ipswich Hospital, a distance of 21.4 miles battling against Storm Amy and rain for some of the journey. 120 people took part and John was one of the oldest!

The money raised will go to West Bergholt Ward at Colchester Hospital where patients with a cancer diagnosis are cared for. John took part in memory of two family members who were patients on this ward, earlier this year and many years ago. Friends at Christ Church, Clacton supported his endeavours and he is very grateful to all of them.
