Register for webinar 3: 10 August – Places to meet Can the church be the hub of the community? How can our spaces become a vibrant, life-giving and life-changing environment for the whole neighbourhood? What support and funding is there to help? How can we grow our volunteer base?

Register for webinar 4: 16 November – Community organising In an increasingly individualistic and hostile society swayed by the loudest and the most privileged, how do we buck the trend and recapture the joy and power of collaboration and community? How can a community speak and act together to make a positive difference? And what has the church to offer into the mix?

You can register for these using the links above (if you haven’t already) and please do forward this email on or point others to the webpage to register: urc.org.uk/margins.   Please do get in touch if you have suggestions, ideas, news, photos, etc. We can share these widely so that they become a resource for everyone.
With thanks and best wishes,
Roo Stewart URC Head of Public Issues

Save the date: Welcome Churches

Refugees, asylum seekers and migrants – including Christians fleeing persecution in their home country – have found welcome and nurturing in local congregations in the UK thanks to the Welcome Churches network. The blessing goes both ways, as churches discover the joy of befriending new individuals and families.

Could your church be added to the Welcome Churches network? It’s free to join, and the team offers trauma-informed support to help the experience be safe and uplifting for everyone involved.

Our Welcome Churches webinar on Wednesday 10 June (7-8pm) will explore the positive impact that being part of Welcome Churches has had on member churches and migrants. Hear for yourself the power of connecting newcomers with a local congregation to reduce isolation, share faith and promote flourishing.
